The Class of 1947 spent the last 3 years attending classes in the Chemical Street Sanctified Church. Their beloved school building had burned to the ground in February 1943. A new RCTS building was completed in 1948 and the Class of 1949 received their diplomas in the new auditorium from Principal Warren Minnifield.

The Class Members Were: Ernest O’Neal, Otis Minnifield, Gertrude Smedley, Nellie Ware, Mae Dale Gates, Marie Longshore, William F. Bell, Willie Bell, Emma Bailey, Wynette Whittaker, Eddie Pate,  Arthur Veal, Percy Perry, Curtis M. Chappell, Grace Davenport, Mae Dell Gates, Jerusha Glenn, Delia Hall, Patty Hall, Jerusha Heath, Mildred Houston, Annie Mae Jackson, Queen Johnson, and Pearlie Knight.

Ernest O'Neal is the father of Stanley O'Neal, past Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Merrill-Lynch, the financial services giant.
